The Martinborough Museum

Built in 1894

The Martinborough Museum building was designed by renowned architect Charles Natusch. It opened in 1894 as the town’s library. Accommodation for the librarian was added in 1906. It remained a library for over 80 years before becoming The Museum in 1978.

The Martinborough Museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and showcasing the natural and cultural history of Martinborough and the surrounding South Wairarapa region. At The Museum, visitors can explore exhibits that highlight the rich natural and cultural heritage of Martinborough and South Wairarapa, featuring carefully curated collections of artefacts and information.

Open Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays:
10:30 am to 2:30 pm

Extended summer opening (27 December – 6 February):
Daily 10:30 am to 2:30 pm
